Google Offices, Accra

The Google Offices in Accra represent a landmark achievement in sustainable workplace design in West Africa. Following a highly competitive tender process, UGC was selected as the green building consultant responsible for delivering LEED certification and guiding the project’s sustainability strategy in alignment with Google’s global environmental and wellness standards.

Despite being a commercial interiors fit-out, the project demanded deep technical involvement. UGC conducted advanced building performance simulations to optimise internal thermal comfort and supported the design team in refining ventilation strategies, glazing specifications and natural lighting.

In close collaboration with Google’s international sustainability team, UGC led efforts to improve indoor air quality, reduce material toxicity, and enhance overall health and wellbeing. This included detailed review of VOC levels, selection of materials with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and vetting of sustainably sourced furniture and finishes.

The project achieved LEED Gold certification in 2022, reflecting Google’s commitment to creating high-performance, healthy work environments and UGC’s ability to deliver at the highest global standards.
