Amrish Shah
Amrish Shah – is the Founder and Principal of UGC Ltd. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Monash University, Australia, and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the University of Queensland, Australia. Amrish’s sustainability credentials are extensive, with certifications including LEED Green Associate (2012), Green Star Accredited Professional (2014), EDGE Expert (2017), EDGE Auditor (2019) and WELL Accredited Professional (2021). He has also served two terms on the board of the Kenya Green Building Society, further demonstrating his leadership in the field.
A pioneer of the green building movement in Kenya, Amrish led the team that achieved the country’s first LEED-certified building in 2014. Since then, he has acted as the lead sustainability consultant on over 100 green building projects, covering a wide range of sectors including commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, and masterplans. Most recently, he helped achieve the highest sustainability rating in the region—LEED Platinum—for the Microsoft offices in Nairobi. Prior to founding UGC, Amrish worked as an environmental consultant in Australia for three years, gaining valuable experience with major global companies such as BP, Caltex, and Bechtel. His expertise spans sustainable design, environmental and development approvals, environmental impact assessments, land rehabilitation, contaminated site assessments, and environmental monitoring across a diverse range of projects.
