Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum, Nairobi
Uhuru Gardens is Kenya’s national monument and a major historical museum located along Langata Road in Nairobi. Designed to commemorate Kenya’s independence and preserve its national heritage, the development is one of the country’s most iconic and culturally significant architectural projects. UGC was engaged from the early design stage to support the project team in meeting EDGE certification requirements. Through detailed simulation modelling and technical advisory, UGC guided the design team in optimising energy performance, water use, and material selection across the expansive museum and visitor facilities. The project achieved EDGE Preliminary Certification and is targeting final certification upon completion—making it the first EDGE-certified national monument and museum in the region.
