Chandarana Foodplus HQ, Nairobi
The Chandarana Foodplus HQ was a proposed headquarters office block for one of Kenya’s leading supermarket chains. UGC was engaged during the early design phase to support the development of a thermally comfortable, energy-efficient workplace—addressing long-standing concerns from the client about poor thermal comfort in previous offices. UGC worked closely with the architects and engineers to conduct detailed building simulation modelling, focusing on passive design strategies including natural ventilation, daylighting optimisation, and external shading. Although the project was ultimately shelved prior to construction, it provided valuable experience and insight into sustainable office design and laid a strong technical foundation for future work with Chandarana.
