Victoria House, Nairobi
Victoria House was a proposed office and retail complex located in Nairobi, envisioned to support informal businesses and small retailers by providing dignified, well-designed, and professional spaces to operate from. UGC was engaged during the early design phase to work closely with the architects and engineers to shape a climate-responsive, low-impact development. The project involved detailed building simulation analysis, with a strong focus on thermal comfort, natural ventilation, and daylighting performance—all intended to eliminate the need for air conditioning and minimise operational energy consumption. Although the project was ultimately paused before construction, it served as an excellent example of early-stage sustainability integration into design thinking.
