World Bank Headquarters, Nairobi

The World Bank Headquarters in Nairobi, located at Delta Centre in Upper Hill, is one of UGC’s early flagship projects in sustainable building performance. While the interiors had previously achieved LEED certification, UGC was engaged to assess and enhance the sustainability of the entire building using the IFC EDGE standard.

Our scope included conducting a comprehensive sustainability audit and performance modelling across energy and water systems. Working closely with the facilities management team, UGC identified practical improvements such as, efficient lighting and low-flow sanitary fixtures that would elevate the building’s performance to meet EDGE requirements.

The project achieved EDGE certification in March 2020, demonstrating measurable gains in operational efficiency and reinforcing the role of existing buildings in the region’s green building transition.
